FES would like to introduce our new assistant principal, Mrs. Anna Howie. Mrs. Anna Howie served as the Curriculum Supervisor of Career and Technical Education for
Dorchester County Public Schools and Interim Principal at Mace’s Lane Middle School during
the 2023-2024 school year. She is a dedicated educator with 22 years of experience in K-12
education. She has served in the capacity of teacher, instructional mathematics coach, Assistant Human Resources Administrator, Local Accountability Coordinator, Curriculum Supervisor of Mathematics, and Principal. She is a native resident of Talbot County, where her husband, Kirk Howie, resides. Their daughter, Jaylen, graduated from Easton High School and is currently an elementary school teacher. Their other two children, KJ and Teagan attend Talbot County Public Schools. Her grandfather, Willis Scott, Sr., was an industrial arts teacher at Moton High School and Easton High School. Mrs. Howie is an active member of community organizations that promote education, leadership in students, and community service. She received her Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master of Arts in Supervision and Administration from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Welcome to Federalsburg!
Welcome to the Flock!
Look at Mrs. Simmons, still hard at work this summer! She co-taught a 2-day class called Computer Science in Early Childhood. Teachers and librarians around the state were taught how to incorporate computer science and computational thinking into their lessons. They focused on the pedagogy of the process and the why of its importance. The panel discussion she was a part of was called “The Computer Science Landscape in Maryland.” We are so proud of our Falcon teacher!

FES wishes Mrs. Jones well on her retirement! She will be deeply missed by our Falcon family but know she has impacted so many people over her long career. Here is a message from Mrs. Jones......
Over the last 18 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching so many of Federalsburg's most precious resources - your children (and, don't tell, but in a few cases, I taught their parents or one of my co-workers as well - back in my Denton days!) I tied shoes, wiped noses, bandaged cuts and gave feel better hugs like they were one of my own. I sang, danced and played like I was one of them and I tried my best to teach them all I could. I will miss seeing those faces each day as they grow up to be 5th graders and then in the blink of an eye - high school graduates! This class, my last "flock", will graduate in 2037 - as far away as that sounds now, if the last 18 years are any indication, it will be here before I know it! I will never forget the students, families & friends that I had at FES! 💜💛 Continue to SOAR like FALCONS!
We can't believe it's The Last Day Eve! Our Staff is "Chalking the Walk" at FES and FJC to send our students off with a smile!
Congratulations to our 5th grade students on leaving the nest. We can’t wait to see what amazing things you do at Colonel Middle. Now, go be a PoWeR PlAyER!
